Vega sport drink

A synergistic blend of high-quality fuel, I designed this drink to be used during activity. The banana and dates supply the high-quality carbohydrate and Vega provides the staying power. Yerba maté further alkalizes and increases the amount of antioxidants and trace minerals. Dulse supplies the electrolytes.• 3 cups water (to increase electrolyte content, substitute half for young coconut water)

• 1/2 serving natural or chocolate Vega
• 1/4 cup dates, fresh or soaked (about two large dates)
• 1/2 banana
• 1 tsp yerba maté (grind to a fine powder using a coffee grinder)
• 1/4 cup fresh mint leaves
• 1 tsp dulse flakes

Blend together. Makes two servings (375 ml each).

Fact: Water from a young coconut is the original sport drink. Still commonly used in South America by athletes to replenish electrolytes, coconut water helps prolong hydration better than plain water.

Tip: For sustained energy and a reduction in recovery time, start sipping this drink about 90 minutes into a workout.
